A Smoothie Recipe for Every Color of the Rainbow + e-book update!

2016-02-29 10.52.56

It’s SMOOTHIE WEEK!! Yesterday, on my scope, we learned that Smoothies are part of a $2 BILLION dollar industry in the US, and the term “smoothie” is accredited to the hippies of the 60s. But it wasn’t until Steven Kuhnau opened up his health food store called Smoothie King that the name stuck. Before that, the word “smoothie” was basically slang for slick or suave and could refer to many different things. Wild, right?

We also learned that Julius Freed was the first person to make a smoothie in America in the early 1920s. He couldn’t stomach straight up freshly-squeezed OJ, so he created a frothy drink with oranges and a few other ingredients. It became known as an Orange Julius.

Plus, we made a smoothie for every color of the rainbow! Check out the recaps on the Red, Orange, Yellow smoothies here. And the recap on Green, Blue, Purple here. All the recipes from my scope are screen grabbed below (a preview of the upcoming e-book!!).
